To my surprise the motto from the Simpsons Krusty the Clown turns out to be very important advise to a perfectionist like myself:
"It's not just good, it's good enough"
I know Slaanesh is seen by many as the chaos god of excess, and basically an excuse to make scandly clad miniatures (which is a very nice side effect really).
Still I've come to the conclusion, based on 30+ years of lore and experience that Slaanesh is probably one of the darkest gods in the Chaos pantheon, and not at all because of what people think.
To me Slaanesh is a god incomplete. It was supposed to be born from the souls of the Eldar race, but it was cheated out of it's prize due to various reasons. Because of this, Slaanesh feels a hole in it's being. A hole it seeks to fill with whatever is present. In essence Slaanesh is much akin to the horseman Famine. It projects this emptiness inside to it's followers, who also seek to fill this void they feel inside, but they will never succeed, so they are driven to even more extreme sensations and these can go into whatever direction.
In short: Slaanesh is the void in us all. That which can never be filled and will always drive us to seek out new experiences. Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily, but if taken to an extreme it sure can be, because then it becomes greed, which, if left unchecked, causes all sorts of trouble.
I also fear Slaanesh has escaped from it's prison and has taken over the GW marketing department.... ;-D
